Lettuce is an excellent ingredient to juice with because it is simple to prepare, with no rinds or seeds to remove. Lettuce is a good cleanser of the liver and is vital to hair and skin health. It also works as an anti-inflammatory agent while supporting proper kidney function. Not all lettuce is created equal though, when it comes to nutritional benefits. Darker varieties like romaine and similar dark greens like endive and escarole are more nutritious than their lighter counterparts. These greens are the best for juicing too, as they tend to yield more liquid than iceberg lettuce, for example.

How to Juice Lettuce

The first step in juicing your lettuce is to properly clean it. Rinse it under cold water and remove any dirt or any brown sections. Pat the lettuce dry with a paper towel. Chop the lettuce leaves into large pieces. Feed the pieces through the shoot of your juicer, pressing down with the accompanying plunger. Repeat the process until you have the desired amount of juice. Depending on the variety of lettuce you use, it may take several bunches to fill one glass.

Lettuce Juice Pairings

Carrots are loaded with vitamin A and are easy to juice with lettuce. Wrap your chopped lettuce around a small carrot stick and feed both through the shoot at the same time. Apples are another good pairing because they will give a sweetness to the juice.
