Insect and animal bites can be painful; worse than that, they can leave unsightly scars on your skin. It’s possible to camouflage bite marks or minimize their appearance. A combination of makeup tricks, creams and homemade remedies will help. With the passage of time, a bite mark may fade to the point where it’s hardly noticeable. Prevention is always better than a cure, so it’s preferable to avoid being bitten in the first place.
Things You'll Need
Cover the bite mark with concealer and then foundation; this is especially effective if the bite mark is on your face or neck. Blend the concealer into your skin with your fingers or a makeup sponge; then cover with your foundation until your skin tone is evened out.
Rub the aspirin into the bite mark; this will help to reduce any itching and make the bite mark look smaller. Break the aspirin in half. Wet the rough edge and rub it on the bite mark.
Add one tablespoon of baking soda to the water; mix it into a thick paste. Smooth the paste onto the bite mark and leave it there for two or three minutes before washing it off with cool water. The paste helps alleviate any stinging or itching as the bite heals and helps fade the the mark.
Smooth a topical cream onto the bite mark and take a Vitamin E supplement to help keep your skin from scarring.
Ask a doctor for a surgical solution if the mark is obvious and large, which it might be if a dog or other large animal is responsible for the bite. Options include laser surgery and microdermabrasion, which remove layers of skin and, in the process, remove scarring left a bite.
Eating healthfully is a good way to help fade bite marks; a healthy diet aids in skin repair.
For insect bites, an alternative to creams is unflavored meat tenderizer. The salt and chemicals in the tenderizer will help reduce the size of the bites and ease the itching. To apply, pour a little onto a plate; then wet your finger and spread on your bites.
