The products used to shampoo, condition and style your hair can also make your hair look dull and limp. Over time, hair products, coupled with natural oils and dirt, can build up in hair. The result is hair that no longer holds a style and looks unhealthy, lackluster and dull. You can prevent severe product buildup with period treatments to remove built-up product residue, but buildup that’s already present can be removed in the same way.
Things You'll Need
Wet your hair thoroughly with warm water. Pour a quarter-sized amount of clarifying shampoo into the palm of your hand.
Lather your hair from roots to ends with the clarifying shampoo. Add more shampoo, if needed, to work up a good lather.
Rinse your hair with warm water until there’s no more shampoo in the hair.
Mix 1 cup of warm water and 1 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar in a cup. Pour the diluted apple cider vinegar over your hair as the final rinse.
Remove the apple cider vinegar rinse and remaining product buildup by rinsing your hair one more time with warm water.
Squeeze excess water from your hair. Wrap your hair in an absorbent towel to aid the drying process.
