Unsightly dark circles give a person an older appearance. The darkness may be the result of allergies, genetics, sleep deprivation or sun damage. You can apply concealer to reduce the dark circles, but that will just cover the problem and the circles will reappear when you remove your makeup. Luckily, you have many options to choose from to get rid of the darkness under your eyes.
Things You'll Need
Chill your eyes to reduce discoloration. Simply wrap a washcloth around a bag of frozen vegetables and hold it over your eyes for 10 minutes. This simple method may reduce dilated blood vessels in your eyes.
Reduce the darkness under your eyes with a potato. Potatoes contain an enzyme called catecholase, which is known for its skin-lightening effects. Simply cut two thin slices from a potato and place them over your eyes for 10 minutes. Treat your eyes twice a week with this method.
Apply a facial cream to eliminate darkness under your eyes. Look for creams that contain lightening ingredients, such as retinol, vitamin C, hydroquinone or green tea. Follow the directions on the package for the proper application.
Speak to your doctor about taking antihistamines. You may be suffering from allergies, which can cause your skin to swell and darken.
Always wear sunscreen and sunglasses to protect your eyes from sun damage, which can lead to dark circles.
