Beach waves look casual, effortless and sexy. You can create loose, beach-inspired curls a number of ways, but you’ll need a little extra help if your locks are damaged and frizzy. Work with your hair’s wavy texture and smooth out the frizz with a simple technique and the help of a few products. Another added bonus is that no heat styling is needed, so your delicate hair won’t sustain any further damage when you try this look.
Things You'll Need
Wash your hair as normal, using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner to help your strands stay smooth.
Gently towel dry your hair and comb a leave-in conditioner through your locks, distributing it evenly from roots to ends. Divide hair into three equal sections and create a single braid in the back of your head. Secure with your hair band.
Allow your braided hair to dry naturally. If your hair is thick, this could take hours. You may want to create the braid before bed then sleep on it. Your hair should be dry in the morning when you wake up.
Remove the hair band and use your fingers to take out the braid. Squeeze a small amount of anti-frizz serum into your hands;, then use your fingers to lightly rake through your hair. This will break up the braided sections and distribute the product. Tousle lightly, if desired, for instant beach waves. You can spray with hairspray or a light-hold spray gel if you’re worried about the waves holding all day.
