How to Do a Seaweed Detox Body Wrap at Home

By Anna Roberts

Many spas offer a seaweed detox body wrap as a stress-reducer and detoxifier. Seaweed wraps may also improve skin's texture and elasticity. You can do a home treatment for less money and get the same results. Follow these instructions for a successful home spa treatment.

Fresh Seaweed

Step 1

Mix 1/4 cup of seaweed powder in a bowl with enough water to form a thick paste. Experiment until you have a texture that feels good--thin enough to spread on your body and thick enough to stick to the skin.

Step 2

Line your bathtub with plastic. You can use plastic wrap from the kitchen or a shower curtain. A painting drop cloth works well and can be purchased for a few dollars at your local hardware store.

Step 3

Spread the seaweed paste over your entire body.

Step 4

Lie down on top of the plastic in the bathtub and wrap the plastic sheet around your body.

Step 5

Relax while the seaweed mud dries for 30 minutes.

Step 6

Rinse your entire body with warm water and follow with a moisturizer.
