Locs — more commonly referred to as dreadlocks — are essentially matted strands of hair. They can be created on purpose, or they can form naturally if you don’t brush or condition your hair. If you have chosen to have locs in your hair, you don’t have to be restricted to the one style. In fact, locs can be curled into ringlets just like regular hair. Use pipe cleaners to help curl your locs for a party or other special occasion.

Things You'll Need

Bend the end of the pipe cleaner downward, about 1 inch from the top of the pipe cleaner. Repeat on the other end of the pipe cleaner.

Place the end of one dreadlock onto the left end of the pipe cleaner and hold it there. Begin to roll the loc around the pipe cleaner, toward the right.

Roll the dreadlock right up to the scalp. When you reach the scalp, take the remaining tail of the pipe cleaner and wrap it around the outside of the wrapped dreadlock to secure the hair in place.

Repeat on all remaining dreads to curl them. Leave the pipe cleaners in overnight, then remove them to reveal your newly curled hair.
