A Crock-Pot is a slow cooker designed to create one-pot meals. If you have a busy day ahead of you but want to serve your family a hot, home-cooked dinner, make tomato sauce and Italian sausage in a Crock-Pot. The sauce will cook over the course of the day, creating a rich, flavorful topping for any type of pasta. Cooking marinara sauce in a Crock-Pot is also ideal if you’re hosting a dinner party because you’ll be able to spend more time with your guests than in the kitchen.

Remove the Italian sausage from its casing and brown it in a skillet over medium heat. Allow the sausage to thoroughly cook, breaking it up with a spoon as it browns. Drain the oil from the sausage.

Place the cooked sausage into a three-quart crock-pot or slow cooker.

Add the tomato sauce ingredients, including two cans of undrained diced tomatoes, one can of tomato paste, one chopped onion, one chopped green pepper, four minced cloves of garlic, 1 tbsp. of white or brown sugar to cut acidity and salt, pepper and dried oregano and basil to taste. Stir the ingredients and place the lid on the crock-pot.

Cook the sauce in a crock-pot for eight to 10 hours on “low” or four to six hours on “high.”
