Egyptians began cultivating asparagus 2,000 years ago. The slim green spears pack a big nutritional punch, offering vitamins A, C, K and folate. Asparagus is easy to prepare and is a versatile side dish. Start with the basic steaming.
Things You'll Need
Wash the spears of asparagus. Cut off the think ends.
Bring a tall pot of water to a boil. Insert the spears and let them steam, about eight minutes.
Take them out of the boiling water and run them under cold water to stop the cooking process.
Lay the spears on a plate. Squeeze lemon juice on top. Grate parmesan cheese on top.
