Pores, which house the sebaceous glands that provide oil to the skin, are something everyone has all over their bodies. However, pores on the face are much more noticeable because they are subject to harder wear than other areas. Between make-up, sweat, lotion and other environmental factors, pores can get clogged and look bigger than they are. Although a healthy skin regime is most important in keeping your pores less noticeable, several tricks may diminish them quickly.

Things You'll Need

Wash and exfoliate your face thoroughly. Exfoliating removes dead skin cells, sebum and dirt that may block your pores and make them appear larger.

Mix an egg white with a few teaspoons of lemon juice and apply it to your face. Allow the egg white to dry completely before washing it off. Both the egg white and the acidity of the lemon juice tightens your skin.

Rinse your face with the coldest water you can stand, to make the muscles and pores contract. In areas that need particular help, wrap an ice cube in a wet washcloth and apply it to the problem spots for a minute or two.

Use a light moisturizer only as necessary on your face, and keep any makeup you use as light as possible (mineral make-up is usually a good option.) Too much make-up can enhance your pores rather than minimize them.

  • Washing your face every night is your best bet for keeping your pores clean and clear.
