Freckles, sun spots, acne scarring and other dark discolorations on your skin can be difficult to cover with makeup or lotions. Instead of attempting to hide spots on your skin, you can use an at-home remedy to fade or even remove them. Most of these treatments are inexpensive and will provide you with optimal results after a few proper applications of the product. You can try a natural approach or simply purchase an over-the-counter skin bleach, available at most beauty supply stores.
Things You'll Need
Fade Spots With Skin Lightening Cream
Purchase an over-the-counter skin lightening cream. These can be found at your local drugstore or beauty supply store.
Apply the skin cream directly to affected areas, on clean, dry skin. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for proper application. Most products can be worn alone or under makeup if desired.
Continue to follow the manufacturer’s instructions regarding frequency and method of application. Most skin lightening creams will work gradually and take multiple applications applied over time to produce the desired effect.
Avoid prolonged sun exposure to ensure skin spots do not darken or reappear. Wear a sunscreen if you plan on spending time outside.
Fade Spots with Lemon Juice
Purchase a bottle of pure lemon juice or a lemon and squeeze to extract the juice.
Saturate a cotton swab with the lemon juice. Dab the saturated swab on your skin’s dark spots. Re-saturate the swab when necessary, continuing until you have applied the lemon juice to all spots you wish to fade.
Repeat the lemon juice application daily until desired fading has occurred. This is a gentle and effective method; however, the acid in the lemon juice can take multiple applications before it removes skin spots.
Apply sunscreen on exposed skin to prevent dark spots from reappearing.
