Protein shakes can be a delicious and healthy way to add extra nutrients to your diet or replace a meal with a fast alternative. With high protein ingredients such as milk, yogurt or protein powder, you can whip up a quick treat to sip. Add fruit for natural sweetening and added fiber to a protein shake to make it even more satisfying. A high fiber protein shake may keep you going for hours.

Mix in 1/3 cup cereal to the ingredients in the blender and process the ingredients on high for 30 seconds. High fiber wheat bran cereal cereal adds 3 grams of soluble fiber to a protein shake.

Add fruit or vegetables to the protein shake to boost the fiber content. For example, a banana adds 1 gram of fiber, three prunes adds 1.5 grams of fiber and an orange adds 1.8 grams of fiber. A carrot adds 1.5 grams of fiber and a cup of celery adds almost 1 gram of fiber. Blend the ingredients on high for 30 to 45 seconds to mix.
