Acne can occur at any age. While it’s often associated with teenagers, acne can also result from hormonal changes even in adulthood. A more serious form of acne, in the form of acne cysts, are large, painful and unsightly. They result from overactive oil glands, as well as dead skin cells and dirt. Acne facial cysts reside deep in the skin tissue. They are filled with pus and often painful and can be large. Try using home remedies for facial cysts so as not to further irritate the skin.
Using oils on facial cysts can help clear them up. One of the best home remedies for facial cysts is tea tree oil. It’s effective on general acne as well. Tea tree oil is an antibacterial oil and will treat the infection. It also can help dry up pimples. Apply a dab of tea tree oil, diluted with a bit of water, on cystic acne at nighttime. Other options for oils include oregano oil and neem oil. Both have similar properties to tea tree oil. If you have sensitive or dry skin, mix in some jojoba oil with the other oils.
Garlic is a home remedy for facial cysts. Garlic has healing and antibacterial benefits to the skin. This is an inexpensive and relatively easy way to treat cysts; it is just a bit smelly. You must use fresh garlic. Cut off a piece and rub the garlic on the cyst two to six times per day.
Baking Soda and Sea Salt
Baking soda is helpful for healing facial cysts. It’s also readily available and inexpensive. Use sea salt with the baking soda, along with water, to create a paste. There are no exact measurements. Just use enough baking soda and water to make the paste and stir in some sea salt. Apply the paste to facial cysts with clean fingers. Leave it on for up to one hour each time and wash it off. Use once or twice daily.
Aspirin and Honey
Create a mask out of aspirin and honey that will blast the cyst. The reason that aspirin is so effective is that it actually contains salicylic acid. That is an ingredient in many topical acne medications. Honey is optional but beneficial as it is a humectant and keeps moisture in the skin. Crush up four to five aspirin tablets and add four or five drops of water. Mix in 1 tbsp. of honey and apply to cysts. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes at a time.
