Many people have fine or thin hair. Unfortunately, there are some hair cuts that will increase the look of the fine hair. Long hair will make the hair look even more thin and brittle. Luckily, there are several ways to cut your hair to make the hair appear thick and full.

Short Bob

Have your hair stylist cut your hair into a short bob. The bob should rest just at the chin. For people who have worn their hair long their whole lives, this will be quite a drastic change. This will make a world of difference, though. The shorter hairstyle will make the hair appear thicker and more full of life. To style your hair, wash your hair with a volumizing shampoo and conditioner. Blow your hair dry using a large, round boar bristled brush to increase the volume in your hair. When finished, tousle your hair with your fingers for added volume.

Stacked ‘Do

Have you hairstylist cut your hair short and stacked. The “stacks” will be several layers cut throughout your hair. The stacks will allow you to add different hot rollers to each layer, giving volume to your hair. When using rollers, place small to medium sized rollers on the bottom layer and medium rollers into the middle and top layers. Leave the rollers in for 5 to 10 minutes. Take the rollers out, and add a little hairspray to hold the look. You can use a rat tail comb to rat the back of your hair which will add height and volume.

Adding Bangs

Many people will experience thinness towards the front of their hairline. Having your stylist cut thick, blunt bangs will not only hide the thinning, but it will add volume to the front of your hair. Have the rest of your hair cut into several layers, the longest layer being just past your chin. Wash and condition your hair with a volumizing cleanser. Blow dry your hair upside down just until the bottom layer is almost dry. Pick your head up and resume drying your hair using a large, round brush. This will add volume and a thick look to your ‘do.
