A sugar scrub is an exfoliating product that you can use in the bath to get smooth and silky skin. Some sugar scrubs are costly when purchased from a specialty bath store, and making your own at home is a cost-effective alternative. Sugar scrubs can be made from items you may already have on hand, adding to the cost-saving benefits. These scrubs make lovely gifts or can be kept for yourself as a relaxing treat.

Things You'll Need

Pour sugar into a mixing bowl.

Add the glycerine, which can be found at most craft stores. You can also use a cooking oil, like olive oil, as a substitute.

Add the fragrant oil, like orange oil, rose oil or almond oil, which can be found at most grocery or craft stores.

Drop a few vitamin E capsules into the mixture. These can also be found at most craft stores or health food shops.

Mix the ingredients together until they are fully incorporated.

Spoon the sugar scrub into an empty glass jar.

  • If you are giving the sugar scrub as a gift, make a decorative paper label for it.

  • Add a few drops of food coloring to the scrub to give it a tint.
