Adrenal Detox

The adrenal glands are hormone-producing, walnut-sized glands located on top of the kidney. Cortisol, DHEA, estrogen and testosterone are all made in the adrenal glands. Cortisol regulates blood sugar levels and promotes healing. DHEA is a hormone that the body uses to make the male and female sex hormones, testosterone and estrogen. The healthy function of the adrenal glands is imperative because unbalanced hormones can wreak havoc on your body and mind. An adrenal detox can help restore this balance and allow the adrenal glands to function properly.

Causes and Effects of Unhealthy Adrenal Glands

Stress, lack of sleep and an unbalanced diet can lead to unhealthy adrenal glands. Some consequences are weight gain (due to the increase in cortisol caused by stress), hair loss, difficulty sleeping, high stress levels, dizziness, fatigue, hypothyroidism, fibromyalgia and depression.

When the adrenal gland becomes stressed it overproduces hormones. An adrenal detox works in two ways. First, it flushes the body and adrenal gland of hormone-induced toxins. Second, it gives the gland essential vitamins and minerals to replenish the gland and de-stress the system. Basically, if you become stressed due to external circumstances or an unhealthy lifestyle, the adrenal gland will overproduce hormones to deal with that stress, which will lead to adrenal fatigue and make you feel stressed physically and mentally. It is a cycle that the adrenal detox can help break so you can begin to heal.

There are several products available to cleanse the adrenal glands. Before trying any supplement or cleanse it is best to try to get to the root of the problem. Get at least eight hours of sleep each night to allow the adrenal glands to rejuvenate. It is also imperative to lower your stress level. Try eating a balance diet, exercising regularly and relaxing (get a massage, take a bath, meditate) to lower stress. If you have symptoms of adrenal fatigue after converting to a healthy lifestyle, try an adrenal detox.

AdrenoBoost is a bottle of liquid drops that are used to reduce cortisol levels in the adrenal glands. Use 15 drops per quarter cup of water or juice three times a day for a month. Adrenal Cleanse is a collection of herbs in pill form. Two capsules daily will flush the adrenal glands of toxins to restore function.

You can also try an adrenal detox home remedy. Drink 8 cups of all-natural organic vegetable juice (try carrots, spinach and tomatoes) with a sprinkle of sea salt per day. Add a Vitamin C (90 mg for a male and 75 mg for a female) and a calcium supplement (1000 mg) daily. Do this for one week, continuing with the Vitamin C and calcium indefinitely for lifelong adrenal health.
