Chicken breast is extremely versatile and can be prepared very simply in numerous ways and cooks quickly. It is nutrient-rich and very satisfying when prepared as a comfort food. Chicken breast is also very forgiving, even when it is not given the care in preparation that it deserves it generally turns out well. Follow these steps below to properly bake a 6-ounce chicken breast.

Turn the oven to 400 degrees F to preheat.

Mix the dry Italian salad dressing mix, grated Parmesan, garlic powder and panko together with a whisk in a bowl.

Pour the milk into a bowl.

Soak the chicken breast in milk, covering it thoroughly.

Dredge the breast in the Parmesan cheese, dressing mix, garlic powder and bread crumb mixture. Gently pat the mixture onto the chicken covering it completely.

Place the breast on a baking pan treated with non-stick spray. Slide it in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the breast reaches an internal temperature of 180 degrees F. Measured the temperature by inserting a stem thermometer into the thickest part of the chicken.

Tip

The Parmesan breast bakes to an appetizing golden color, probe with the stem thermometer through the side or bottom so as not to ruin the appearance. Handle the breast with a pair of tongs. Do not puncture it with a fork.

Warning

Dispose of all ingredients used in the preparation of the raw chicken; they have been exposed to salmonella. Sanitize the work area, cutting board and utensils used before and after handling the raw chicken by washing with a solution of one part chlorine bleach to nine parts water.
